Overview: Commissioned by Hubbub as part of their In our Nature Campaign, The In Our Nature Store was a pop-up immersive nature-filled oasis for shoppers to relax away from the bustle of the busy street in the heart of Manchester. Hidden within what appears to be an everyday supermarket store shoppers were invited to relax  surrounded by plants, the smells of nature, and projections of green spaces from around the city. 

At the centre of the experience was a sound installation, featuring ‘the sound of Manchester’s nature’ – a series of tracks created in collaboration with sound artist and composer Jason Singh and Manchester’s spoken word collective, Young Identity. Before leaving the shop, customers were offered information about tangible actions everybody can take to support nature and the environment in their local area.

The popup was part of the In Our Nature’s programme of activities with communities in Manchester, which were designed to help find creative solutions to the climate crisis. All the projects used nature as a gateway to inspire positive climate action, with a big focus on removing barriers for those with limited access to spend time in nature. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9yoyVQpaDuo&t=65s
